If you didn’t answer “c” for all five questions, then it’s time we re-evaluate our skincare needs. And even if you did answer “c” for every question, let’s brush up on our skincare knowledge.

1.) When should you wash your face?

To start off, washing your face isn’t the same as rinsing it. Washing includes using a cleanser, while rinsing refers to using only water. You may have heard that you can rinse your face in the mornings and wash it at night, but that’s not the case. According to Debra Jaliman, an assistant professor of dermatology, “bacteria builds up on your skin when you sleep at night, so you need to wash it off in the morning1.” The oils from your hair and night creams transfer onto your pillowcase throughout the night and think about how many times your roll around on your covers. It’s best to wash your face once you wake up to have a fresh base for your morning skincare routine.

2.) What type of face wash do you use?

If you haven’t started using a face wash yet, it’s time you do. As previously mentioned, using water alone won’t get rid of all the dirt and oils accumulated throughout the day and night. And the myth about warm water opening your pores is completely false! “Your pores aren’t muscles, so they can’t voluntarily open and contract regardless of water temperature2”. That’s why you need a face wash like our Collagen Foam Cleanser; the bubbles created by the foam deeply penetrate your pores to eliminate oil build-up.

3.) Which gender should use foam cleansers?

We’re all aware of the joke that girls can use 10 different skincare products and still have complicated skin, while boys can use a bar of soap and achieve clear skin. Well, newsflash, there is a vast community of males that are craving clear skin, and rightly so. Skincare is as fluid as gender norms and we want to make it known that anyone can achieve clear skin with the right products. Regardless of gender, introduce one of Awakiin’s foam cleansers into your skincare routine for that radiant summer glow.

4.) At what age should you start using foam cleansers?

Everyone’s skincare journey starts at a different age. One day you have skin as clear and soft as a baby’s butt, then the next day you find your first pimple. It’s not easy going through this transition, but when it comes down to it, finding the right products for your skin at an early age can prevent prolonged damage. It’s never too early to start and never too late to start washing your face effectively.

5.) Foam cleansers are only for oily skin.

Most foam cleansers aim to strip your skin of all-natural oils, leaving behind that super tight and dry sensation we’re all familiar with. It might seem only natural to use a foam cleanser for oily or combination skin. However, Awakiin’s  Aloe Foam Cleanser is suited for dry and sensitive skin because it’s meant to moisturize your skin as it cleans out debris and dirt. There’s always a version of the product you want that can achieve your skincare goals.

Our goal with this short quiz and article was to educate our readers on the importance of washing our faces. We want you to always take the best course of action for your skin and we want to be able to provide the very best products for when you do.
